Germaine Lawrence

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES:

Germaine Lawrence relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations, community groups and foundations to help us make a difference in the lives of the girls we serve. It is through the contributions of our donors and volunteers that we are able to provide the highest quality of care and treatment to some of the most vulnerable girls in need.

Your contributions make a direct impact on an adolescent girl's chance to take back control of her life. Here is how you can show your support to New England's largest provider of residential treatment services for adolescent girls.

FUNDS TO SUPPORT:

Fund for Excellence:

Germaine Lawrence's Fund for Excellence is committed to advancing and supporting the agency's mission of providing adolescent girls the highest quality residential treatment services. Through the Fund for Excellence, we are able to support programs and activities that are not covered by state reimbursement and that are crucial to serving the girls in our care. Your far-reaching and unrestricted gift will support the operating budget of the agency, and the services we provide to over 250 adolescent girls each year. Contact us for more information.

Enrichment Fund:

The Enrichment Fund provides mini-grants for projects and special requests that provide new and exciting experiences that will enrich the lives of the girls served at Germaine Lawrence. Through this fund, students have been able to take dance or swimming lessons, create gardens, go on horseback riding trips, buy uniforms for their basketball team, attend theater performances at the Wang Center, and participate in other special opportunities. Contact us for more information on how you can support our Enrichment Fund.

Gym Renovation

Our gymnasium has become increasingly inadequate to meet the needs of our girls. The room is in high demand for physical education classes, on-campus performances, and special events. It is the only space we have that is large enough for all-school activities and programs.

We are seeking funds to replace the windows, for a new heating and air conditioning system, to refurbish the floors, to paint and to replace equipment.

Physical education, recreation and performances are important elements of our program. Contact us for more information.

Landscaping

In 2001, Our Board of Directors adopted a campus master plan to create a state-of-the-art campus with homes specially designed to safely and effectively serve our girls.

We have built three new treatment centers and developed two off-street parking lots. To complete the campus master plan, we will begin construction on the final new building later this year. In addition, we are relandscaping our campus. Our goal is to improve campus safety, campus circulation, and use of our outdoor space. Underlying these practical concerns is our desire to make the campus an attractive and inviting space for our students and their families.

There are several components to our landscape improvements:

  • Upgrading our pathways, which are steeply sloped and are difficult to navigate in the winter.
  • Installing benches near pathways, handrails on paths, and adding stairs where the slope is excessively steep.
  • Adjusting lighting to make our paths safer at night.

We recently relandscaped the center of our campus and transformed it into an attractive, amphitheater-type space with seating areas that can be used for outdoor classrooms and recreation. Contact us for more information.
