| Services
and Education: An Overview
Germaine Lawrence offers adolescent girls a comprehensive
continuum of residential treatment that helps them
to reduce their maladaptive behaviors, to develop
age-appropriate social skills, and to make enough
progress to enable them to live in the community
safely again. Each program incorporates:
- Comprehensive clinical services that include
individual, family and group therapy; psychiatric
services; and a
treatment
protocol for sexual abuse survivors that has
been adopted by other centers across the country
- A supportive special education program with
a maximum of ten students per classroom, each
staffed with a teacher and teaching assistant,
and supported by a team of school counselors
- A structured, therapeutic, residential environment
that ensures safety while promoting psychosocial
growth through nurturance, praise and a focus
on teaching social skills
- Specialized treatment protocols that reflect
the girls’ special needs. This specialization
allows our staff to be well trained for the unique
issues presented by the girls with whom they
work, and to achieve success with girls who have
been unsuccessful in other placements.
Germaine Lawrence successfully prepares more than
80% of our students to move back home or to less
restrictive community programs. This unparalleled
success rate has helped us become the preferred
placement choice of social workers, psychiatrists
and judges throughout the region.
