Professional Health Care Services
A physician specializing in adolescent health care
from Children’s Hospital Medical Center provides
primary medical care for all girls at Germaine Lawrence.
The physician conducts weekly clinics to provide
routine medical services
for our girls. Girls requiring the services of specialists
are referred to Children’s Hospital in Boston.
Physicians from the Adolescent Clinic also provide
twenty-four hour on-call service to assist with
assessment and triage of ill or injured residents.
Due to the excellence of the health care provided
by Children’s Hospital, Germaine Lawrence
has been able to serve girls with a variety of serious
medical problems including diabetes, asthma and
anorexia nervosa.
Germaine Lawrence provides sixteen hours of nursing
services per day.
When there is no nurse on campus the on-call physician
at Children's Hospital is consulted for any medical
concerns that arise.
The nursing staff is available for consultation
to parents and legal guardians regarding health
concerns of their daughter.

Emergency Medical Services:
All Germaine Lawrence residential staff are certified
in the American Heart Association’s CPR
and First Aid procedures.
The Emergency Response System (911) of the town
of Arlington responds to all Medical emergencies.
In the case of a medical emergency, the student
is usually taken to the nearest hospital for
treatment.

Dental Services:
Dental Services are provided on site through
Mobile Dental Services bi-weekly. The dentists
provide routine dental services to our students.

Psychiatric Services:
The psychiatrists employed by Germaine Lawrence
provide psychiatric services on site and are
active participants in all treatment planning.
Students have an initial psychiatric evaluation
upon admission and then are placed on a schedule
for follow up visits.
The psychiatrists discuss with parents or guardians
any recommended medication trials or changes
and gain authorization prior to administration.
Upon discharge from Germaine Lawrence, girls
are provided with prescriptions or medications
for one month.
